It contains catechins in abundance and to be precise it is found to be full of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and caffeine, however not as much as the coffee contains. The antioxidant EGCG is responsible for its weight loss properties. Studies have shown that drinking 4 cups of green tea daily can boost your metabolism and support weight loss.   1. Take a pan and pour 1 cup of water and heat it up, do not boil it, the temperature should be around 80 degree.

Black tea works on weight loss with a slightly different mechanism from the green tea. However black tea is also found to be rich in catechins like green tea with some added benefits as below:

  • Black tea contains flavonoids, which may prevent the inflammation induced obesity, lower the triglycerides and visceral fats.
  • Tea is a very low-calorie beverage or you may even say it negligible as a cup of tea only contains two calories with no fat and cholesterol. So it will always be best to sip your cup of black tea with no added sugar as sugar, milk etc. add to the calories in your tea.
