What is acne:

Acne is basically bacteria, dead skin and oil trapped in the outer layer of your skin, which is not allowed to flow off. Usually, our skin has some glands which releases and oil called Sebum for lubrication of skin. The pores in our skin get clogged if the glands release too much of the oil, which is worsened by dead skin cells and bacteria (usually Propionibacterium acnes), which starts growing and hence gives you swelling and redness, which usually is the start of acne. What acne is caused by:

Generally, when skin starts releasing more Sebum than needed, the clogging starts in the pores, which causes acne. There could be multiple reasons behind this and most common is the hormonal changes in the body, as the body begins to mature and develop.

The second most common cause is Genetics, which means one is more probable to get acne if their parents had this problem.

Third most common cause now a days is lifestyle. If one has sensitive skin, which is exposed to dirt and pollution, it is more obvious to grow acne due to exposure to more bacteria, which can get trapped in the pores and start multiplying. Lifestyle changes, stress along with hormonal changes in the body may also lead to this problem.

Different types of acne:
Blackheads

When one of skin pore is clogged up but left open, one gets a blackhead. Due to exposed tip, it gets darkened and a blackhead is left.

Whitehead

When one of the skin pores is clogged up but is closed one gets a whitehead.

Pimple

When the wall of one of the pores open up more, allowing the sebum, bacteria and dead skin to flow and gather under your skin, leaving you with red, painful bump in your skin, is known as pimple.
